THE ONLY ONE

Originally written June 18, 2007, this poem is written as a love song to God, a thanksgiving for loving us even though we don't deserve to be loved. I like how quickly God gave me this poem....it was written in under 20 minutes with no revisions and although not a masterpiece, it defines my feelings, then and now.

To the only One I need

The only One who loves me just for who I am

Who talks to me when no one else will talk or listen

Who hears my cry in the bleakest hour of night

To He who calms the storm of my nerves

to the One, I give my heart



To the only One I need

The only Father I have ever known

The only One who's ever known me

Who stores the hail, and wind and rain

Who feels my desire, feels my pain

To He who only awaits my call

To the One, I give my all



To the only One I need

The only One who counts the birds

who shelters every hair upon my head

To He who puts a beautiful day before me

Who only wants the best of all I am

To the One, I give my life
