Waiting for Time
October 27, 1990
When you've seen the hands of time
grasp and tear at you
Like nervous fingers on an unwanted jacket
You realize that today is essential
Tomorrow, only a wish
Yesterday a cherished memory
While time waits for no one
so many sit and wait
for something that is never going to happen
Wasting life as it were nothing
Living for the next day, not guaranteed to come
And one day while wishing
and waiting for tomorrow
There will come a time when wishing time is over
When lack of desire chokes out all hope
and emotions are wrung as a finished dishcloth
The the last tie is loosened
and pillows are all fluffed
and the wisher lies dormant
to the sleep never ending
Dreams unfulfilled
Not seeing a tomorrow
